Eco Committee

The Governors take a keen interest in the Eco-Schools programme and fully support the goal of increasing staff, pupils' and parents' awareness of the importance of more sustainable ways of doing things and increasing the schools focus on activities that can help achieve this.

The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple framework to help make sustainability an integral part of school life. It enhances the curriculum and gets the whole school united behind something important.

The Eco-Committee is the action team and the driving force behind the Eco-Schools work. It includes pupils chosen or elected to represent different year groups and the whole school and a member of staff (the Eco-Coordinator) supports but does not lead the committee.

The Eco-Committee is tasked to:

  • Ensure that the whole school is aware of the Eco-Schools programme
  • Take the lead in carrying out Environmental Reviews
  • Ensure that everyone in the school community is represented in the decision-making process
  • Provide a link between pupils, teachers, governors and the whole school community
  • Take the lead in delivering the Eco-Schools Action Plan

The Committee would welcome any suggestions that parents may have for projects or improvements that could be made to assist with improving the school's green status.
