About Us

The school is situated on the northern edge of Hatfield and opposite Hatfield Park. We have approximately 240 children in classes Nursery through to year 6.

The school building contains self-contained classrooms, some which open out on to shared practical areas. The Nursery is housed in a separate purpose-built unit within the school grounds. The school has a hall, dining room, KS1 library, KS2 library and Learning Centre.

The playground consists of hard surfaces and large grassed areas. There are 3 adventure playgrounds, a stage and a storytelling circle. An environmental area at the top of the playground consists of a nature trail, hedgerow and wild grasses with areas for study. The school building is very secure with access to the public only being available through the front door via an intercom system. The teaching staff includes a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, full time teachers supported by HLTA’s and Teaching Assistants. The school employs a specialist music teacher and a PE teacher who teach music and PE to all classes throughout the school.

In addition there are visiting teachers for brass, violin, piano, and recorder. Parents may visit the school by prior appointment and new entrants are invited to spend time at school during the term prior to entry. All children are welcome to start at our Nursery as soon as they reach 3½ years of age. The Ryde offers wrap-around care for school pupils from 7.45am to 5.15pm every school day. There is one intake in September into Reception class.
