Trip to Mill Green Museum

In history we have been learning about the Great Fire of London in 1666. The fire started in a bakery because they didn’t have electricity and used fire to cook on.

We visited a real mill where they make flour, we learnt about how the grain is turned into flour using a water mill. It was very big and very loud! We had a go at using mill stones by hand, this was lots of hard work.

We then had a go at making our own bread with a baker. We have electricity so our ovens do not use fire like they did in 1666.

We also got to look at real artefacts from 1666. The fire fighter hat was so strong we could stand on it! There were also lots of artefacts people would have had in their homes, we had to work out what they all were then decide what we would have tried to save in a fire.
